Welcome to Oubaitori Karate Club!

We’re so glad that you enjoyed your trial with us so much that you’ve decided to continue training

What happens now?

We know the whole joining process can seem a bit daunting, what to do, what to buy, so this page is designed to help you navigate those first couple of months.

Step 1. Submit Your Information

Before your next class

You will receive an email from our Dojo management platform, DojoHub. This email has a link and a PIN, use this PIN on the link and fill in your information.

The information we ask for are things like your name and date of birth for insurance purposes, medical details and emergency contacts, and your communication preferences. This is all to keep you safe and in the loop, and also to keep us compliant on various targets such as Safeguarding, GDPR and Data Protection.

This also includes digitally signing our terms.

Step 2. Your Subscription or Funding

Before your next class

Confirm with us what subscription package you would like, which lesson/lessons you would like to train at, and how you would like to pay. We take membership subscriptions either through Direct Debit (via GoCardless), or automated card payment (via Stripe). You can see our pricing here

If you think it would be helpful for you, jump over to our Karate for Good page which details how we can help you pay for your lessons through funding from the National Lottery.

We’ll set up your subscription and we’re ready to go.

Step 3. Join Our Community

Whenever you’re ready

We run various different community platforms for our members. If this is your thing you can visit our Community Page for details on our WhatsApp Group, Discord Server, and Facebook Group.

These are how we primarily communicate with our members, though important information (such as class closures) are sent by text to our members.

Step 4. What to purchase?

At your own pace

Don’t worry! You don’t need to buy anything/everything right away. The first things most students want are a Gi and a pair of mitts to train in. We also strongly recommend a gumshield and a headguard as soon as you can.

Step 5. License & Grading

Within 3 months

The next thing most students are interested in, is grading (sometimes called “belt testing”), when you earn your first/next belts.

We run gradings every 3 months, and the details can be found on our grading page.

In order to grade students must also be licensed. Licenses cost between £15 and £30 depending on what options/upgrades you would like. Find out more about getting licensed on our licensing page.
